Tyee decided to treat my mom.....in a roundabout way that is. He cooked dinner for my dad, uncle and cousins who were out in Carlton combining their grass seed. It is a very busy time on the farm, and Jack fit right in out there. He loved the big trucks, combines, hay, dirt, and most of all seeing his "Pa" who he has not been able to see much since harvest began. It was a beautiful evening out there and Jack may be running one of the machines some day!

Time for the Fair!!!
My mom and I took Jack to the Washington County fair. I have probably not been since I was little, but I definitely had more fun this time than any time I could remember. Jack loved seeing all the animals, except when he went to pet a horse and stuck his fingers in the horse's mouth and got nipped! He was pretty scared. We ate elephant ears and rode the carousel and we were tired after all the fun!

Blueberries for Jack
One of my favorite books from childhood was "Blueberries for Sal" and Sunday when we went picking I kept thinking about that book! It was actually Jack's second time picking berries because he went last year when he was just a couple of weeks old. He was soo funny....eating and eating and eating more berries and the minute I took the bucket away, he figured out that he could just pick his own right off the branches.

Big Boy!
Here Jack is in his big boy "prep" outfit from his Auntie Stace from San Francisco. He got many compliments on his outfit at Book Babies. We also got Jack a new drum and he looks like he is trying out for a Guns and Roses revival tour. Finally, Jack officially got his first new pair of "real" shoes for all of his walking...lots of it outdoors!

Beach Time
To continue our wonderful family weekend, we headed to Cannon Beach for the day. We hiked at Ecola State Park down to a secluded Crescent Beach. It was Jack's first time walking in the sand and feeling the ocean on his feet. He had no fear of the ocean!!! We had to chase him down multiple times! After a few sand sandwiches and face plants in the sand, we decided to hike out and head into town for taffy and pizza. I have such wonderful memories of my times as a kid at the coast and can't wait to share those with Jack.

Saturday with Dad!
Jack had a great day Saturday with his dad while mom got to go for a run and do some errands. Here he is with his new water table from his grammie M.
Saturday evening we decided to head out and walk from the Eastside of the river over to the Westside to cruise to Powell's to look at books and to the new Deschutes Brewery. We had so much fun...Jack is definitely easier to take out and about these days as long as we move a lot and have treats!

We're Back with our Jack
Well we had a wonderful time in the Grand Canyon rafting for 10 days. I can say that it was quite a way to experience the grandeur and beauty of such an amazing place. I was pushed to many of my own physical limits and of course my emotional limits with being away from our son. He was taken care of by the best grandparents in the world and was quite a happy boy when we returned. I had no idea he could change SOOO much in such a short time. The big changes are that he walks 100% of the time now..no more crawling! He also jabbers and imitates words nonstop, is eating like a HORSE, and has lots more hair. We are so happy to be back with our boy and are so thankful that our parents gave us the gift of being able to take such an amazing trip. The last kicker to the trip was a nice bacterial illness that knocked me down once we arrived home, so thats why I have been such a blog slug.
